NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Sponge Cake

Hey everyone!

In today's blog I am bringing to you a review on the NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Sponge Cake. I bought this about a year ago during one of a few mini-Ulta hauls I had. I love the NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss because it smells absolutely wonderful. I was a bit disappointed with the pigment, but lip glosses usually have a sheer pigment, but for some reason I was expecting a bit more than what I got. The official NYX Cosmetics website describes this lip gloss as a red bronze with slight gold shimmer.

Rating:

My personal rating: 9.5/10=95%=A

Comments:
I think the price is not bad, but it is a bit more than I would personally like. I think lip glosses should be under $5.00, but it's not bad. The smell of it is definitely worth it. The packaging is simple, but cute. They use a square shape and a clear tube so that you can see the color inside. Inside the cap there is a doe foot applicator to apply the product with. One thing I do not like about this packaging is that it does leak the product out. I would definitely change that. For the price I think that you get a decent amount of product. For some reason I was expecting this lip gloss to be more pigmented than it is. I think the packaging makes it appear more pigmented than it is, but it is a lip gloss, so I can't really complain. Lip glosses are not known to have pigment, but for a sheer pigment and this lip gloss provides a toned down pigment. This lip gloss lasts about as long as normal lip glosses do. If you don't eat, drink, or lick your lips then it lasts about an hour or so. If you do those things then it lasts less. I wish I could give this product a 100 out of 10 because it smells so good! It smells sweet like a sponge-cake. I find myself opening this lip gloss sometimes just so I can smell it. It is a fairly strong sweet smell. The aftertaste does not even come close to what this smells like. The aftertaste has a bit of a chemically taste to it. This product does not feel heavy or thick on the lips and it doesn't have a sticky feel to it either. The application of this product is super smooth and even. They included a long doe foot applicator looking thing that makes the product easy to apply all over the lid. The applicator is a little too big for my lips so I don't like when it comes to outlining my lips, but to fill in the actual lip with the product is nice. I personally think that the applicator could be shorter. You can definitely put this product on dry lips and it will fill everything in without missing a beat. Overall, I am a huge fan of this lip gloss. I absolutely love the smell of it. The only negative is that the packaging leaks the product out and it gets all over everything which is gross. I would definitely buy this again in many different colors.

Sincerely,
Marina

MAC FIX+ (Plus) Spray

Hi everyone!

In today's blog I am bringing to you the MAC FIX+ (Plus) Spray. According to the official MAC website this product is to be used as a primer, but I use this product for other purposes. I use this spray to lightly spray over my face after I put on my makeup and it's supposed to help makeup last longer. You can also use this spray for wet eye shadow application. This spray can also be used for freshening the face, like for example, if by mid-afternoon your makeup is starting to look dull, you can spray this and it will liven up your face again. I think it's supposed to help foundation from caking up and things like that.

According to the official MAC website they still carry this product, but they upgraded the packaging, which I'm not entirely sure they did. It looks very similar to the one I bought a few years ago. The writing seems to have changed from black to white. I love the packaging because this product comes in a decently sized bottle, but the cap has a little spray thing sticking out and you can twist it from left to right to open and close. I had never seen that before so it was super cool. I like the idea of it.

Comments:
I don't remember exactly how much I paid for this product, but I think I paid some where around $20.00 for it. The current price for this product on the MAC website is $22.00. I think that the price is a bit high for a spray. I think NYX and probably E.L.F. make setting sprays like this for way cheaper. I love the packaging of this product because the cap has a small spray thing that sticks out and when you move it left or right it either opens or closes the spray. I think it's a very cool idea! It's definitely unique. I have not experienced any product leakage with this package which is awesome. I definitely think that you get a decent sized bottle of this product even if it is $22.00 and the bottle lasts quite a while. I mostly use it for special occasions and it has lasted me a few years. I would not personally spend that much money on this product for everyday use, but that's just my personal opinion. I think that this product does help to make my makeup last longer because I've worn this product for parties where I knew I was going to be in heat, humidity, and for quite a few hours. I think it did a wonderful job. I will say that you should put this product on in cool environment before putting it through the test of heat because if you put it on in a non-cool environment then it doesn't set/dry so then it doesn't do much for keeping the makeup together when you are in heat/humidity/participating in some moderate physical activity. This spray needs the proper conditions to set. One time I was doing my makeup in the car and our air was not working so I decided to use this spray to keep my makeup together before walking around the big city and my makeup didn't set right so it did move around. That was not pleasant. I don't really think of this product as a primer, but I'm sure for some people it works great. I think it works okay, but I would rather use other kinds of primer. I think that this product feels refreshing on the face, it adds a bit of moisture without too much, and when it is first sprayed you can feel it, but as it dries you can barely tell you sprayed it. It does not feel heavy or weighted down. After it dries it doesn't feel like you are wearing anything on top of your makeup. I agree with the website description that this feels lightweight and refreshes the skin, but I don't agree that it can be used as an actual face primer. I think that this product helps to bring out the pigment of the eye shadow. The first layer goes on smoothly and kind of smeared, but then when you apply the second coat of eye shadow it brings out the pigment in a big way. Without the spray the eye shadow looks kind of dull and you can't really tell there is shimmer in it. When you spray the brush and apply the eye shadow it brings out the color and shimmer of the eye shadow. I can definitely see a difference. Just put a light spray on the brush. I think I did a little too much and that's why the first layer came out the way it did. I think that people from dry skin to oily skin can use this product because it adds moisture to my dry skin and I think it helps to set the makeup so it would dry out some of the oil on oily skin. I'm not sure how it does it, but I think it seems like it will work well with many different skin types. Overall, this is a good setting spray that is good to have around when you want your makeup to last a bit longer through heat, humidity, and light to moderate activity. Even though the price is a bit high, I would definitely repurchase when I run out because it would be a $22.00 about every 6 months or so for me.

Sincerely,
Marina

E.L.F. (EyesLipsFace) Long Wear Lip Liner in Spice

Hey everyone!

I am going to be talking about three lip liners that I bought all at the same time because I wanted a variety of lip liners for all of the lipstick I have and bought. My MAC one is my favorite, but I needed some alternative cheaper lip liners that I could use everyday without spending $15.00 plus. I figured I would give the E.L.F ones a try. In this blog I am bringing you the E.L.F. (EyesLipsFace) Long Wear Lip Liner in Spice. I bought this specific one because I really liked the color. All three of the lip liners I bought together came with three sharpeners. I am assuming one for each lip liner.

It appears as though E.L.F. has decided to keep this liner, the packaging appears very similar and they still have the color in Spice. I had no idea that E.L.F. was going to be sending a pencil sharpener, let alone three of them, but I am not sure if they still do that or not. It didn't say they did, but they ended up doing so. The lip liners may or may not come with a pencil sharpener.

E.L.F. always gets an A+ from me for their price because most of their items are $1.00 and this is one of those. It is really hard to beat. The packaging is normal, but cute. The product is a pencil that is white with silver writing on it and a clear plastic cap. One end has the pencil and the other has a tiny little cap with the color of the lip liner. I think the ratio from price to amount of product is awesome. You definitely get a decent amount of product for the price. The pigment on the Spice is dark. This product is described on the eyeslipsface.com website as feather proof and long lasting, but I do not feel that this product doesn't feather on the lip line and I don't feel that this product lasts as long as they try to claim. I swatched the products on my hand, let them sit for a few minutes, and they rubbed off easily. The smell of the product is that it smells like a pencil so I took a few points off for that. This lip liner definitely tastes like a pencil if you get some in your mouth. It is strong too. The texture of this product is that it is smooth and it doesn't feel heavy. It doesn't feel bad, but I don't think it's as good as it could be. I love the MAC lip liners! This lip liner goes on smoothly, but it does tug a bit, especially after you try sharpening it yourself. When it first arrives pre-sharpened, it works really well, but then using the pencil sharpener makes it sharpen uneven and then it kind of tugs on the lips. I think that this lip product goes on better with dry lips because if you put something on your lips like lip moisturizer then this product doesn't work well. On dry lips, the product applies to the lips, and stays. I am not sure if the pencil is the problem or whether the cheap sharpener is the problem, but as I mentioned above, the sharpener does not sharpen even like one side will be sharpened and the other won't and things like that. Sometimes it sharpens too much and sometimes not enough. I have had a lot of issues with sharpening these lip liners. It's not just one, I have had this problem with three of them. I do not feel that this lip liner is feather proof nor that it is moisturizing. The description feather proofing kind of implies that it is long wearing, but it's not. Overall, for the price of these they are definitely not bad. I would definitely repurchase these lip liners because they are good to have for everyday use when running errands and such, but I would not repurchase this specific color because I don't like it.

E.L.F. (EyesLipsFace) Tone Correcting Concealer in Honey

Hi everyone!

In today's blog I am bringing to you a review on the E.L.F. (EyesLipsFace) Tone Correcting Concealer in Honey. When I bought the E.L.F Tone Correcting Concealer I bought two at the same time and I am so glad I did because the light and dark one work together to conceal my under eye bags and dark circles. The first couple of times I use the Tone Correcting Concealers individually and I was not very happy with how it turned out. The light beige works well on covering small blemishes on my face, but you could still see the dark circles and bags and lines under my eyes. Then one day I decided to put the dark Honey over it and I have been doing it that way ever since.

Although, I would like to say that one of my E.L.F. products is causing me to get a pimple near the outer corner of my eye and I am assuming that it is the concealers because that's the only thing I put under my eyes. It seems too low to be the eye liner. I don't think it's my foundation because it doesn't break me out any where else on my face. Just wanted to put that out there.

The E.L.F. Tone Correcting Concealer appears to still be around, the packaging looks very similar, and they kept the name Honey.

The price of this product is $1.00 which you can't beat. The packaging is cute. It is a clear round tube where you can see the product inside and inside the cap there is a doe foot applicator to apply the product. I have not had any problems with leaking of the product. You definitely get enough product for the amount you spend on it. I think this product lasts for a few hours before it starts getting into my eyes. The product definitely starts moving I would say after about 3-4 hours. If you use MAC Fix+ spray then it lasts longer. This product is not advertised as being long lasting so I can't fault it too much. The application of this product is smooth and even. The doe foot applicator makes it easier to apply the product. This product has a bit of a sweet smell to it. It's not bad, but I can't quite place what it smells like. Once applied to the face you can't smell it. The concealer is a bit watery so it feels light weight when you put it on under the eyes. It doesn't feel heavy or weighted down. It blends in fairly well that you forget you are wearing it until it starts getting into the eyes after a few hours. If you are trying to cover small, semi-red blemishes then this product works very well. If you are looking to cover bigger or darker blemishes then you will have to keep applying it until you build the coverage you want. I think that this build coverage just okay. This Honey color does an okay job of covering blemishes because it's darker than my skin tone so it stands out when I just use it. There are better products out there that build coverage better. This specific Honey color does do a very good job of covering dark under eye circles and it hides lines to cover them better than the Light Beige one. I have really dark circles under my eyes. If you use this light one and a darker one together then it works very well at covering dark under eye circles. Overall, this is not a bad product to have in your arsenal when it comes to price and the coverage is okay. I would definitely repurchase this product for the price and for mixing the Light Beige and Honey together which makes a perfect combination for covering my dark under eye circles.

Marina
