Hi fellow makeup fans!
This blog is going to be a review of the Almay Intense Eyes for Brown Eyes. I bought it a few years ago. I have had it for a while. There is definitely a reason why I have not used it all up and it's still around with my makeup. I bought the Almay Intense Eyes for brown eyes because I absolutely adore the colors that they have for brown eyes. I do not have brown eyes. I actually have blue eyes. I have a weird thing for brown eyes though. Like I mentioned, I really like the colors they have in the palette for brown eyes. I love the browns and the purples. I of course told myself that I had to have it. I don't know if they changed the formula for their eye shadows so don't quote me on that.
I think I am starting to realize that I am not a huge fan of eye shadow palettes because I feel like they never work for me. It is the same case with this intense eyes palette for brown eyes. It comes with 3 eye shadow colors. The top one is like a off white highlight color, the middle is a violet color, and the last one is a very dark brown color. I did not realize back when I bought it that the eye shadows came in different finishes. I think this palette comes with eye shadows that seem to be like a creamy texture. I used to try to wear all three colors on my lid, but I could never get the violet color to show up. It was so frustrating. This was before I knew about eye primers let alone about primers in general. I did wear the dark brown color all over my eye lid because that was the only color I could get to show up. I really liked the way it brought out my blue eyes. The highlight color and the dark brown colors do show up, although the dark brown one shows up the best out of all of them. The violet don't even try. It did nothing for me.
About a month ago I tried to use the Almay Intense Eyes for Brown Eyes palette with a primer. I think I used the E.L.F. eyelid primer with this palette. I was still having the same issues. The violet color just does not want to show up. I also noticed that since I have gotten older I have more oily eyelids. I came to the conclusion that oily eyelids and creamy eye shadows, unless maybe you use a really good eye primer, are not a good combination. I stay away from creamy eye shadows. I have heard about the new product from Maybelline where they have cream eye shadows that are supposed to last. I might try those! Otherwise I am going to stay away from them. I tried the best that I could to use the palette. The colors blended together beautifully even though I couldn't get the violet to show up. I noticed that after about 2 hours of me not even really doing anything but hanging around my apartment the colors all blended together on my eyelids. It barely even lasted 2 hours on my eye lids.

Comments: I honestly don't remember how much I paid, but it could not have been more than $5. I think they are still pretty cheap. I would not recommend this palette of creamy texture eye shadows for anyone with any kind of oily eye lids. The colors are beautiful. You get a lot of product for what you pay for. But one of the colors doesn't work and the eye shadows don't work well with my oily eyelids. That is so heartbreaking because I really like the colors! I really wanted to like this product.
I hope that helps! Next week I am doing a blog every day on a Covergirl product. I have not had much success with the Covergirl products either so next week is going to be another week of negative reviews of some Covergirl products I have. I am trying to get it out of the way so I can start writing about products I like.
Sincerely,
Marina
