05/17/2013 Update

Hi everyone!

I took about a month and a half off from blogging because for like two months straight I did a lot of reviews of discontinued products. Some days I even made multiple blogs. It got a little bit intense. I also took a break because I became very frustrated with youtube reviews of products, other makeup blogs of products, and the actual makeup products themselves.

Let me explain.

While I was working on going through my makeup collection of discontinued products, I had some money to spend on some new makeup products so I was super excited. I wanted to try NYX Cosmetics and then I found out about Maybelline Color Tattoo products that I really wanted to try. So I went out and bought them, but when I tested the product, I became very disappointed with the products and the reviews I found about the products on Youtube.

I did a lot of online research on the Maybelline Color Tattoos. I did a bunch of different youtube videos and a bunch of online blogs about it. People kept describing the Maybelline Color Tattoos as this amazing product and some even compared it as a dupe for MAC Paint Pots. When people kept comparing the Maybelline Color Tattoos to the MAC Paint Pots, I guess I got overly excited so when I finally tried the product I was really let down. People over-hyped the product and it didn't even come close to the hype. If you know MAC Paint Pots you can use them as eye shadow primers, as both primer and shadow, and as eye shadow. I didn't need to buy primer, plus paint pot, plus eye shadow. With the Color Tattoos I feel that you need to buy primer. The MAC Paint Pots last a few hours, but they don't claim to be 24 hours. The Color Tattoos had the claim of lasting 24 hours, not that I actually wanted or expected the Color Tattoos to actually last 24 hours, I felt like the Color Tattoos barely lasted as long as the MAC Paint Pots. The Maybelline product varied so much from one to the next that with one color the pigment was excellent and lasted up to 4 hours, while another product had horrible pigment and lasted barely 2 hours. There were even people on youtube who claimed they had oily lids and this product was amazing for that, but I have oily lids and this product was not amazing. I don't think that Maybelline Color Tattoo should be legally allowed to make the claim of 24 hours, not only because that's unrealistic and unnecessary, but also because they barely lasted above 4 hours.

I'm not sure what I expected from NYX, but I definitely was not impressed with their lipgloss collection. Maybe I was overly excited about it and that's why I was so harsh on it, but I have always really liked lipgloss of all different kinds, but this one was just okay. Once again my expectations exceeded the product.

I would have so much rather just saved up my money and got 1 MAC product over multiple none MAC products.

Overview:
-I was really excited about trying out NYX Cosmetics, Maybelline Color Tattoos, and L'Oreal Paris Infallible Eye Shadow.
-I did a lot of research on these products of reviews on many different youtube videos, many different blogs, many different websites like Ulta.com reviews, and actual product website reviews.
-People were comparing the Maybelline Color Tattoo as dupes for MAC Paint pots
-People claimed these products worked super well on oily lids
-Maybelline and L'Oreal Paris claimed that their product lasted a long time

But I do intend to finish off the 50-75 or so products I have left to review that I have bought within the past couple of years from MAC, E.L.F., NYX, and do actual reviews for Maybelline Color Tattoos and the L'Oreal Paris Infallible Eye Shadow.

Sincerely,
Marina
