EyesLipsFace (E.L.F.) Pro Eyeshadow Palette Limited Edition

Hi fellow makeup fans!

This blog is going to be a review of the EyesLipsFace Endless Eyes Pro Eyeshadow Palette Limited Edition (a palette that comes with 100 different eye shadows) that I got from Target a while back when I first started hearing about E.L.F. products on youtube. That was probably at least 8 months ago. I went to my local target to check out their E.L.F. products collection. I am so mad at myself because our Target had an E.L.F trial station. I don't know why I didn't think to play around with the products because now they don't have it. It would have been nice to test out more of their products in the store rather than buying and trying at home. Although, it's so cheap that it's like you barely pay anything at all.

I was looking around at the products. I think I was looking for eye shadows at the time. I happened to look and see a 100 eye shadow palette. I got really excited. When I saw the price, I had to have it! I bought it thinking that it was going to be so awesome because it had all of these eye shadows and for such a great price. It has different eye shadow makes like some are matte, some are shimmery, I think at least one of the black colors has chunks of glitter in it, etc. I thought that was amazing!

When I got home I did swatches of the eye shadows on my fingers. With this product it is really either a hit or a miss, there is no in between... some of the colors, like half, had awesome pigment color payoff on my fingers, but when I try to apply it to the lid it is so unpigmented.... oh my gosh. It is very frustrating for me as you can tell. A lot of them are very hard to work with. I just don't think they blend together very well. Depending on the primer sometimes you can make the eye shadows last longer, but it has been very difficult to get the pigment of the colors to show up. Although in their defense I have only tried the E.L.F. eyelid primer and MAC Bare Study paint pot.

I think I paid $10 for it. I just realized that it is their Endless Eyes Pro Eyeshadow Palette Limited Edition. Their pro products cost a couple more dollars, but usually I have not had any problems with the pro line. It is definitely not limited edition because it has been out for at least 8 months! I do not recommend it unless you are looking for eye shadows that have very low pigment. I cannot see how their regular palette of eye shadows could be better than their pro palette...

My Eyeshadow Pet Peeve:

I don't really trust videos or blogs that do eye shadow swatches because a lot of the time the person doesn't tell you that they had to press super hard to get the pigment or that they had to pack the color on. What bothers me the most is when they don't tell you that the pigment of the eyeshadow on their finger appears more pigmented than when you actually try to use the eyeshadow on the lid! I don't think they do it intentionally, but I'm just weird and have to know!

Explanation of my E.L.F. Eyeshadow Pro Palette:

A while back one night I went through testing the pigment of each individual eyeshadow and which ever eye shadow I thought had very little to no pigment even on my finger I decided to take out of the palette so that I don't go through the frustration of trying to use it and it not working. I pretty much did it to ease my frustration with the product. I know it doesn't look good, but usually I am the only one seeing it anyway. That is an explanation as to why my pro palette looks the way that it does. Except recently the color in row 5, column 4 eye shadow has been broken for a while and the other day decided that it was going to fall out. It had some pigment so I had it in my palette, but it broke off and fell out so I guess that is done! I ended up taking out 13 eye shadows that had very little to no pigment out of the 100 eye shadows in the palette.

Comments: I would recommend this palette to teenagers who are just starting out with makeup or only wear one to two eye shadows at a time. I am sure very good makeup artists could work with this palette because some of them can take anything and turn it into amazingness! I am not one of those people. I kind of think that the eyeshadow pigments show up a bit more when I don't use a primer... Eye shadow longevity depends on what primer you use. The eye shadows are a bit small, but seem to have a lot of product that lasts a while if you don't use it very often and don't pack on the colors. I am definitely going to see what else is out there before buying this again.

I hardly use my E.L.F. palette.

Marina

Clinique 3-step Skincare (After 3 Weeks)

I really need a new introduction. Hi fellow makeup fans!

This blog is just a short update about the Clinique 3-step skincare system.

This week I decided to stop using the product to see what my skin would do when I don't use it. I compared my skin without the skincare system and then using the skincare system.

I went a couple of days of not using any of the product. My skin looked dry, unhealthy, my pores opened up a little bit instead of closing to make them smaller, and my skin didn't feel soft.

I have not been having problems such as breakouts except maybe 1 noticeable one. But as soon as I started using the system again it went away. I have not noticed any skin burns. My chin has not been super dry. I can definitely see that the skincare system has been repairing my skin and the effects are actually changing my skin to be better. I don't feel like I have to do all the 3 steps twice a day and fear my skin turning back to what it was before I started using the system. I think the changes are very small to keep people using the product. When I don't use it my pores open up and go back to being medium to large. My T-zone has not been as oily as it has been in the past. I have not taken pictures of my face because I don't like how the redness shines through, but hopefully as I continue using this product it might be able to repair it, especially if it's from the sunburn I got a few years ago. I did notice some very small areas of dryness on my skin. Usually that would be embarrassing because it looks a bit flaky so when I try to put liquid foundation on the dry flaky areas it looked really bad. This skincare system definitely helps keep my skin from drying out so I have not had a lot of problems with having to be embarrassed about wearing makeup over the dry flaky patches. That is definitely a bonus also!

When I returned to using the system I noticed that my skin felt cleaner, my pores look smaller, my skin felt softer, and my skin looked brighter and more vibrant. It definitely does the job for me.

One day I might try another skincare system, especially if someone wants me to test other products to review them. I am definitely up for that!

In short the product:
  • keeps my skin from drying out and looking flaky so it is easier to put on liquid foundation
  • my pores are decreased in size or have closed up so they are not so noticable
  • my skin feels soft
  • has helped with keeping my oily T-zone from occurring
  • brought out under skin surface blemishes to surface to get rid of them fairly quickly. When the few pimples popped up on the surface they were really easy to cover until they went away.
  • my skin has a healthy look to it- more vibrant, I can't find the word for it but it looks wet but without looking oily, hydrated I guess would be the word

Marina

Aussie 3-Minute Miracle- Deep Conditioner for Hair

Hi fellow makeup fans!

A couple of months ago I was searching up some youtube videos about a product I wanted to see reviewed and it led me down a path of finding a video about hair products. This one girl on youtube, I forgot her name, did a review on the Aussie 3-Minute Miracle. I got really excited because I am looking for cheap alternatives to condition my hair. She did mention that she puts a lot of product in her hair and uses a lot of tools in her hair so that is why she uses it. I thought it would be good for me because I have really dry hair. I bought mine at Walmart for like $3.50 and it lasted me a month!

Use of Product:

How I used the product is I would go in the shower and wash my hair using the fructis shampoo and conditioner, then I would wash my face and body. I would do my normal shower stuff. The product says to use that product on clean hair. Then I would squirt a good amount of product onto my hand and gentle work it into my hair. The bottle is cute because it says to think about your day and that should take about 3 minutes. I don't really do that I usually just count while I wait or sometimes I think about what I have to do after I get out of the shower. Then I just rinse it out with warm water even though it says to rinse it out with warm and luke warm water. It has been working fine for me. I have used the product twice a week in my hair and it lasted for a month. For the price and the amount you get it is definitely worth it! I cannot rave enough about this product =-)

Thoughts about the product:

I really liked this product because it made my hair feel super soft! With most conditioners, like the review I did last week on the Fructis conditioner, tends to weigh the hair down and make it look greasy, especially with my dry hair, but this product is very light weight and it does not make my hair look greasy. Another bonus is that the product did not make my hair puffy which most conditioners also like to do to my hair. Please read the Fructis review for more information! I love the tropical/sweet smell that lasts a couple of hours after the shower too! Even though the product lasts a couple of days in the hair, I still kind of feel like it is a cheap quick fix rather than long term. It is a product that you will have to keep using in order to get it's affects without it actually doing anything to improve the hair long term. That makes me sad about the product because it's so great! Because I have dry thin hair, so my hair tends to get knotted easily, and this product has helped my hair to stay healthy so that it doesn't tangle. I have noticed a definite decrease in my hair knotting up when I wear pony tails and things like that. I have not had to deal with de-tangling in the shower, but when I first had to use the product it de-tangled very nicely also. Not only has it helped to de-tangle my hair, it has also helped to keep it from re-tangling. I absolutely adore that!

Comments: the reason why I knocked off some points from deep conditioning longevity and product longevity is because even though the product lasted in my hair for about 2-3 days, the fact that I don't do anything else to my hair to damage it or dry it out, I feel that the product should be lasting longer. The product so far does not seem to be building upon itself, but have to keep doing the steps over and over. It seems to be designed for long term weekly use. I hope that makes sense. That's the only negative I really have with this product.

Marina

Fructis Triple Nutrition Dry, Damaged Hair

Hi fellow makeup fans!

This blog is going to be about the Fructis Triple Nutrition for Dry, Damaged hair shampoo and conditioner. I have been using this for at least 6 months now. I think I used the small bottle versions for a few months. I don't remember exactly how long I have been using it, but it has been a while. I am not entirely sure why I have used it for so long because it doesn't do what it says it is supposed to. I have not noticed anything different about my hair. The product doesn't last long in the hair. The shampoo part of the product I think actually cleans my hair and makes it feel like it is clean. The conditioner part I think is a bit too heavy and at times weighs my hair down. It looks greasy like I had not washed it. I don't like that. After I would wash the conditioner out then my hair returned to looking and feeling dry. Eventually a few months into doing this I went out and bought another product to combat that look. I used the Aussie leave in conditioner spray which then put moisture back in my hair and didn't make it look greasy on top and dry on the bottom. That has definitely helped until recently I found an Aussie deep conditioning product that I also use in the shower now that I really like! I will do review on those in the next coming blogs!

I am running out of the fructis product of the big bottles and I think I am going to try another hair product because I just don't think it's doing what I want it to. I bought it because it's one of the cheaper shampoo and conditioner combinations. I was really hoping that because I got the triple nutrition and it says specifically for dry and damaged hair. I don't use a lot of products in or on my hair. If I was actually doing that then I would definitely not use this fructis shampoo and conditioner because then my hair would probably be even more dried out and damaged. I will have to look around in the shampoo and conditioner isles for another product that might work better. I would say this is one of those products that when you first bring it home and use it, it works, but for long term, I have not seen any positive change in my hair since using this product.

How I used this product:

I would get different results when using this shampoo and conditioner products. If I used less shampoo and more conditioner then my hair would look oily on top with my hair looking flat, while the dry part would puff out. If I used more shampoo than conditioner then my hair would dry out and look dry plus created frizz on top. If I used the same amount of shampoo and conditioner then my hair would look oily and flat on top and puffed out on the bottom. This product just did not work for me.

A tip for hair care:

I would strongly advise against using a shampoo and conditioner in one product, especially if you have my hair because those definitely don't work. When I would use the Herbal Essence 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner I felt like it would dry my hair out because it was not getting the conditioning that it needed. I don't use that product anymore so I probably won't do a review on it unless I run out of ideas, lol. I think it is better to buy the shampoo and conditioner separate because then you can control how much shampoo and conditioner you use depending on your hair. I used to do that to save money and it was not worth it.

Comments: I noticed that because the product did not work in my hair and dried it out that it would tangle a lot easier. When I tried to use the conditioner to detangle my hair the knot would still be there. It didn't really help with detangling and may have actually helped to tangle my hair. The product has a light herbal smell to it, but the smell doesn't linger on the hair after you wash it off. If you are looking for a good smelling shampoo or one that leaves your hair smelling good then this would not be it. If you don't mind mild herbal smell that doesn't stay in the hair then this is for you.

If there was ever a time where a product promised something without completely delivering it, this product would be it! I have not had good experiences with it.

Marina

Equate Mild Exfoilating Body Wash

Hi fellow makeup fans!

Sorry for the lack of blogs, but this week I have not been feeling very well so I have not been able to dedicate time to write the blogs that I have wanted to. I hope next week I keep up with my blogs better.

Walmart Equate Mild Exfoliating Body Wash:

This blog is going to be about the Walmart brand Equate. I bought the Equate Mild Exfoliating Body Wash a few months ago. I think about 4-5 months ago. I have used Bath and Body Works body gels before because I loved the smell of them, but every time I used them I felt like they were not really cleaning. I didn't come out of the shower feeling clean. You know how some soap bars leave that soapy feeling? I felt like the products did that too. I was in Walmart one day looking at some products. I saw the Dove Mild Exfoliating body wash. I thought to myself I should try it. I was having some dry skin problems on my body that I wanted to get rid of. Right next to it I saw the Equate brand which was a few dollars cheaper than the Dove one. Since I didn't know if it would work or not I decided to go for the cheaper option just to see what would happen.

I am really liking it. I feel like it got the job done that I was looking for. It exfoliated my body skin to get rid of the skin that was on top and it leaves my skin feeling soft. I think that it moisturized the dry areas on my skin. I also liked the fact that when I came out of the shower I did not feel like I still had soap residue on my skin. I think that it actually does moisturize my skin.

I use my Equate Mild Exfoliating Body Wash with a $1 loofah that I also bought at Walmart. I squirt some of the product onto the loofah. Then I apply it to my body. I feel like the loofah also helps to exfoliate the skin along with the product.

As I have found out with the Clinique face wash that my skin on my face is very sensitive. I kind of knew my skin was on the sensitive side so that is why I decided to go with the mild exfoliating one rather than the regular one. I have not noticed any skin irritations at all, even with using the cheap loofah. I am really excited about that. I have not noticed any problems on my skin with using either product together.

I think that if you are looking for a cheap product for exfoliating the Walmart brand is pretty good. I'm sure there are other products out there that work a lot better, but you also have to realize that it comes with a price tag. Why not cut down on some of the expenses while still getting a product that does the job? I would definitely recommend this as an alternative to higher priced items.

The only negatives I have noticed about the product is that it leaves the exfoliating beads that are left over all over the tub which is kind of annoying because then I have to clean the tub more frequently than I normally would. But it is not a complaint about the actual product.

Rating:

On a scale of 0 to 10. O being the lowest, 10 being the highest.

Cleanliness: 8/10
Price: 10/10

Would I buy it again: 10/10
Product score: 73/90=81.1%=B

My personal rating of the product: 9/10=90%=A

Comments: I noticed that the product doesn't have a smell so that could go either way. If you are looking for a body wash that smells good I would not go for this one. If you are not looking for a body wash that smells then this product is for you! Like I said I have not noticed either a good or bad smell, it seems to be neutral. I would not use this product if you are trying to 'cure' dry skin because even though I think it cleans the dry skin and leaves it feeling somewhat soft, I don't think this product does the job of actually healing dry skin. I have used it for a few months and I don't think it has done a good job with that. I have noticed that my dry skin doesn't hurt as much as it used to before where it cracked a lot easier. That was painful. I would not recommend this product if you have chest acne because it doesn't help with getting rid of chest acne either. These two reasons are why I had to lower the score.

Marina

Clinique 3-Step Skincare (after 2 weeks)

Hi fellow makeup fans!

Clinique 3-Step skincare system after 2 weeks use:

I already did a blog last week after my first week of using the Clinique 3-step skincare system. Week 2 has definitely been an interesting week. Before I go any further, I would like to mention that I do believe the issues I have had with this 3-step system is because I was using a wash cloth and my skin is a lot more sensitive than I thought it was. Even though I would try to use the wash cloth gently it still seemed to have caused some irritations. But don't let that discourage you from trying the product. I really think it was the way I was using the liquid soap. One thing I will mention is that if you do have very dry skin I would try using the extra mild liquid soap because I have noticed that I have had issues with the mild soap drying out my skin even more, especially when I don't use it in the shower, but use the wash cloth.

If you are looking for details about my skin then please read my first blog about the Clinique 3-step system because I have very detailed information about my skin to give you a more accurate guide about this product!

On Sunday, May 27th I noticed that I had developed a rash on my lower right cheek. It looked as though I had rubbed my skin off. It hurt a little bit. It hurt more so when I tried to washed my face and used the liquid toner. This was earlier in the week when I was still not sure whether the issue was the actual product or because I was using a wash cloth.
On Monday, May 28th I decided to wash my face without using the wash cloth and the rash started healing. On Tuesday, May 29th I still had a little bit of the rash showing and I noticed that even though I had not used makeup on my face for a couple of days because of the skin issue that I was still having minor breakouts. It was on and around my nose area. It was around the same area as where I have minor breakouts before using the product. I am going to assume that the product was getting whatever was under my skin in those areas was being cleared out, therefore, causing small breakouts.
On Wednesday, May 30th I noticed minor breakouts around my left temple area I had one, the left side of my nose, and some minor breakouts on both of my upper cheeks.
On Friday, June 1st I developed a dry chin. That lasted for a couple of days, but has since cleared up and is not dry anymore.

I had a lot more issues the second week of using this product than the first week. In the first week I broke out in a couple of places that were normal for me to break out once in a while.

Recommendations when using this product:

  • If you have very sensitive or very dry skin I would avoid using a wash cloth with this product, I would use it in the shower which I noticed I didn't have as much issues with the product, and if you do wash outside of the shower avoid using a wash cloth
  • If you have very sensitive or very dry skin I would also recommend trying their extra mild soap which I am going to do after I use up the mild facial liquid soap and give an update on what happens with that
  • Expect some breakouts when first starting out using the product because it could be deep cleaning underneath the skin which come out in blemish form, this could last as little as two weeks and up to a couple of months while your skin is being deep cleaned
  • If you have very dry to dry skin I would recommend drinking plenty of water when using this product- water is good anyway, but I think being hydrated from the inside out will definitely help eliminate dryness. I noticed when I wasn't drinking as much water is when I started having extra dryness issues
  • Try using less of the product on your face than someone normally would, because I feel like two pumps is too much for me, but I wanted to use the recommended amount to really test out the product
  • Try avoiding over rubbing the product into the skin which I may also have been doing
  • Try avoid using hot water. I would use warm to luke warm water when washing the face. When using too hot water for your skin also tends to create issues I have noticed

Other information about the product:

Another thing that I would like to add is that applying these products takes more than 3 minutes. I can't remember off the top of my head where I read or heard it being advertised that it only takes 3 minutes for the whole process and I am here to say that it takes more than just 3 minutes. I would say it takes me at least 10 minutes for the whole process of rushing through it. The longest it has taken me is about 20-25 minutes.

I wait for the water to warm up, I apply the wet water to my face, I apply two pumps to my hand of the mild liquid facial soap, then I apply the liquid soap to my face with my index finger, I gently rub the product into my skin, I leave it on for about a minute or so, then I wash off the product and gently wipe my face. I wait for it to dry which takes a few minutes.

The second step is to use the liquid toner. I put it on a cotton ball. I tip the bottle twice for about 5 seconds each. I apply it to my face. I wait for that to dry.

The third step is to apply the moisturizer. I use two pumps of the moisturizer all over my face.

The Good about the Product:

I do really like this product, but it does have a few downfalls to it. Since I reviewed the product critically throughout the entire blog and the first blog, in this section I would like to focus on what I liked about the product. What I like about the product is that the first week I started using my skin instantly became a lot smoother/softer than before. I love touching the skin on my face now. I saw a major reduction in the size of my pores. It has not made them completely disappear, but when I use the product I can definitely see a difference. My pores are reduced to a smaller size which I am very excited about. I feel that the overall look of my face has improved because it looks healthier. Even though the liquid soap sometimes dries my skin out a little bit, but the liquid exfoliator and the moisturizer are amazing! I don't have dry skin patches on my cheeks and oily T-zone. It evened out my entire skin as it needed. It adds moisture to my dryness and takes away oil from my where it needs to. I have some redness to my skin, especially in the cheeks, and I feel that the product has evened out my redness so that it doesn't stand out as much. You don't look at my face and instantly see redness, but rather it blended it out with my skin tone if that makes sense. I'm not sure how to explain it exactly. I have noticed that putting on makeup is a lot easier and looks a lot better than before. I used to have some dry skin flakiness issue when using makeup products whether liquid or powder, but that issue has not come up. I feel confident in applying and wearing foundation. I don't have to worry about the foundation looking flaky. These products definitely have good things about them! I am going to continue using this product for now because it fits what I am looking for. I feel that with each use my skin tone gets more even and in the one area I had minor pimple problems in one area has gone away. I am hoping that once the product cleanses the other areas that need it then the whole small pimples issue will be done with. I also started wondering if the liquid foundation I was using was causing the breakout problem which is more than likely the case. These products have improved the overall health of my skin, is reducing my pores and redness, and makes applying foundation so much better. The few weeks of going through some breakouts and dryness has not deterred me from continuing to use this product. I just might switch from mild to extra mild, not use a wash cloth, and use less of the product.

Would I buy this product again: 9/10
Overall rating based on points:  85/100=85%=B
My opinionated overall rating of the product: 8.5/10=85%=B

Comments: the reason why this product lost points is because not everyone can afford to spend $65 a month on skincare products, which is one of the biggest reasons why this product lost points. This product is not meant for people who suffer from acne issues, but very minor pimples here or there. But they do sell a separate system that focuses entirely on acne. The packaging is nothing exciting. The product size is not bad for the price.

I hope this helps!

Macy's Online Mini Mac Haul 06/01/2012

Hi fellow makeup fans!

A few days ago I went on the Macy's website and placed an online order. It was supposed to arrive next week and I was going to make a video about it next week, but it ended up coming today. I could not wait all weekend to open it so I decided to make a quick video and a detailed blog post about the MAC products I bought and the few trial sized goodies I got from placing an order online at Macy's =-)

Mac Products I bought:

I have been shopping around for a really good waterproof mascara because I have watery eyes which would then bleed the mascara into my eyes making them water, then I would rub and completely ruin my makeup. I am hoping that a waterproof mascara will eliminate or slow that problem down for me. I tried the EyesLipsFace waterproof mascara and I feel like I am not getting the results I am looking for. I saw on MAC Cosmetics website that they have waterproof or what they call splashproof mascara's. I decided to try it.
  • I bought the MAC Splashproof Lash mascara in Blacksplash (A22)

I have also been shopping around for a face primer because I feel that the MAC Prep+Prime Skin Base Visage I have is not what I thought it was and it is not doing what I thought I wanted it to do. I also have an EyesLipsFace one that I recently bought but I feel that one is too liquid-like. I have an oily T-zone so it is hard to find a primer that combats that.
  • I bought the MAC Matte face primer

I really like my MAC Paint Pot in Bare Study, but it has a lot of shimmer to it, so I feel sometimes it interferes with the eye shadow. I wanted something matte to use with my eye shadows. I bought two primers from EyesLipsFace one was their regular eye primer and the other their mineral eye primer. I am not a big fan of either, but especially the mineral one. I originally wanted to buy the Paint Pot in Painterly, but for some reason Macy's websites didn't have it so I decided to try Soft Ochre. It might be too light on me, but at least now I have a choice between a shimmer eye primer and a matte eye primer.
  • I bought MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre

Macy's Free Trial Size Products:

When I placed my MAC order from Macy's website, if you ordered makeup products, they added trial sized products to try. With my order they sent the following products:

  • Hydroxatone Hydrolyze Advanced Under Eye Formula- fights the appearance of dark circles and bags
  • Cargo OneBase Concealer + Foundation
  • Laura Geller Spackle Under Make-up Primer
  • Stila stay all day 10-in-1 HD Beauty Balm
  • Coach Poppy Flower fragrance
  • Michael Kors fragrance

Well, that is it for my Macy's Mini MAC and goodies haul. Thank you so much for reading!

Sincerely,
Marina
