L'Oreal Paris Bare Naturale Soft-Focus Mineral Finish in #401 Translucent

Hello everyone!

I was going through my makeup products and decided to look up L'Oreal Paris Bare Naturale Gentle Mineral Makeup because I have had this for years. I bought this at my local Walgreens like 5+ years ago when I first started getting into makeup. I was trying to find liquid foundations, but I was at my local Walgreens one day and they were having a sale where it said buy one get one of the same products free. I ended up splurging and buying 2 Bare Naturale Gentle Mineral Makeup in #456 Soft Ivory, 2 Bare Naturale Soft Focus Mineral Finish (I lost one of them a while back), 2 Bare Naturale Gentle Mineral Concealer in 476 Fair/Light and 2 Bare Naturale Gentle Mineral Powders in 408 Soft Ivory.

This blog is going to be about the L'Oreal Paris Bare Naturale Soft-Focus Mineral Finish in #401 Translucent. I think this product has been renamed as L'Oreal Paris True Match Naturale Soft-Focus Mineral Finish in Translucent. This product also appears to have been extended as a collection. This powder goes over the foundation powder to give it a finished look. The nice thing about this translucent powder is that it tries to match the skin rather than making it white which then makes your face look white. I don't know if they used to, but now they do have a white powder option and they also have a medium shade option for people with darker skin tones. I honestly cannot tell the difference between the foundation and the finish of this product because they look very similar and feel very similar. It now comes in translucent (fair/light skin color), translucent matte (white powder), translucent medium (medium skin color), and translucent rose (pinkish color).

I have a little rant. I do not understand the concept of blush and I do not understand the concept of making a translucent powder in a pinkish color. I am someone who suffers from redness to the skin and I hate it. I try to find any and every product to cover up my redness. Why would I add blush or a finish that would make my face look red? I do get that makeup blush and makeup redness looks better than actual blushing and redness, but why would someone want to add those to their face? I don't think I will ever understand these two concepts. The only way I can see needing a rose colored translucent powder is for those people who have very pale skin that need to add some color to their skin. It is good that companies do serve that need for those who need it. It's just that I am on the complete opposite spectrum trying everything in my power to get rid of my redness.

*Fair warning: L'Oreal Paris Bare Naturale Soft-Focus Mineral Finish in #401 Translucent (for fair/light skin) appears to have been renamed as L'Oreal Paris True Match Naturale Soft-Focus Mineral Finish in Translucent (for fair/light skin) and it may have been reformulated.*

Comments: Once again it's been so long that I don't remember how much I personally spent on this product. I would once again say around $10. I think that's a bit too high for the product. Once again, I really like the packaging because I really like that it comes with a brush on top. I did take off a point because the packaging is messy and gets all over everything when you open it. I do think you get a decent amount of product. I think the translucency works really well with this product because it tries to match the skin color so instead of putting white all over your face, with this product, you are putting a skin colored translucent powder which looks better. I really like the way this translucent powder feels on the skin because it is so lightweight that you can't tell that you are wearing it, unlike with the foundation. I don't feel that wearing this finish alone gives enough coverage to hide my redness, but if you put the powder underneath and this over it, then I think it does a decent job. I think that putting powder on powder seems a bit awkward. I might have to try this with a liquid foundation and update about how that goes. I don't feel that putting powder on top of powder does a good job of setting powder, but it might work better on setting liquid foundation. The finish powder does give a nice shine to the skin. I would definitely be interested in purchasing the reformulated version to see if they made any improvements. I think I would repurchase this product for the finish. I can see myself using it instead of the white translucent.

Thank you so much for reading!

Sincerely,
Marina
